Itinerary
- Depart Agadir in the morning and drive to Taroudant, known as "Little Marrakech" for its ancient red ramparts and bustling souks.
- Continue through the saffron-growing region of Taliouine and the artisan town of Taznakht to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara and a major film-making hub.
- Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.
- After breakfast, travel south over the Anti-Atlas Mountains to the town of Agdez.
- Continue through the scenic Draa Valley, a vast ribbon of green palm groves dotted with traditional Kasbahs, to the desert town of Merzouga.
- Overnight stay at a hotel near the Erg Chebbi dunes.
- Spend the day exploring the surroundings of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Activities often include a 4x4 tour to the village of Khamlia to listen to Gnawa music, visiting a local market in Rissani, and having tea with nomadic families.
- In the late afternoon, take a sunset camel trek into the dunes and spend the night in a traditional Berber desert camp with dinner and a campfire.
- Wake up early to catch the stunning desert sunrise before returning to the hotel via camel for breakfast and a shower.
- Head to Erfoud (famous for fossils) and then on to the dramatic Todra Gorges, a massive canyon where you can walk along the river.
